Course options:

Full time courses in Land Based Skills including Horticulture, and the Countryside & Environment have been confirmed to start in September 2014.

Working with our partners Writtle College, these courses are available to students looking at a career in Horticulture, Landscape, Garden Design, Garden Construction, Countryside, or the Environment.

These courses are hands on, providing excellent skills for future work opportunities.  A number of places for work experience have also been arranged for students to coincide with the courses, to give further employability skills, giving students a real base from which to start a new career.

Working with our partners

Working with our partners, Essex & Suffolk Water,  Rural Community Council of Essex (RCCE), Essex County Council, Colchester Borough Council, Layer Parish Council, Writtle College, Colchester Institute and Essex Wildlife Trust, we have begun the exciting task of pulling together our ideal courses.  

Ranging from short courses teaching willow weaving, and wool and wood crafts, through to BTEC, NVQ and City & Guilds courses, and further to BSc and FdSc and research projects, the options are wide and plentiful.

The courses cover agriculture, farming, and the countryside, including land and woodland management, fishery management, animal husbandry, landscape including horticulture, land based mechanism, construction, business & management, apprenticeships and biosciences. With choices from Spinning to Greenwood Crafts, Willow Weaving to Quilting and Christmas Crafts including Wreath making to choose from you will be spoilt for choice!

With courses starting from just £20 for the Origami Textiles course for 3 hours of tuition and a decorative item to treasure to take home with you there are plenty of reasons to try out something new.
