Welcome to

Abberton Rural Training

A National Award winning charity providing education and training in a range of Land Based Studies including Horticulture, Woodlands, Land Management, Conservation, Countryside & Environment, Construction and Rural Crafts.

We work with a range of groups including disadvantaged, vulnerable and isolated people, with specialist groups for young people, people with Special Education Needs, Wounded and Injured Service Personnel, victims of Domestic Violence and many others, as well as being for the general community who just want to learn conservation or gardening skills etc. With sites right across Essex and South Suffolk we are sure to have a course close to you, however, if you cannot come in yourself due to isolation or other factors, then why not have a look at our online courses to help you get started.

We have additional support services available for all participants including fully trained Mental health and Wellbeing Counsellors (BACP accredited), and Advocacy assistance to help overcome whatever barriers you to have to your learning.  We offer additional support to help you move closer to employment, including CV writing, interview skills, job search and other assistance, as well as helping you gain confidence, improve your wellbeing, and become part of a great team.

We work across Essex and surrounding areas, including brand new projects covering woodlands and conservation projects across Country Parks, and other protected sites, and are also working currently on further national projects.  We also assist parish, borough and district councils with community gardens, conservation projects and much more, and also working with a number of schools to assist them with their horticulture projects ranging from providing lesson plans and scheme of works to fully supported with tutors and qualifications included.
